Freo Doctor Liquor Store Details

The Freo Doctor Liquor Store is the oldest bottle shop in Fremantle. It was known as Oceania Trading Exchange for many years, an iconic Freo business built by the Sgro family in 1928. The Sgro's were among the first provedores of Italian food, wine and spirits to the local Italian community and to export via ships berthed at Fremantle Port, with much of the goods produced at their local winery and market garden.

The façade of the building looks a little different these days, with our Freo Doctor mural by local aerosol artist Alton and leafy grape vines framing the entrance. But the shop will always have that enduring Freo character. Heritage listed since 2000, we think the aesthetic, historic and social significance of the building is worthy of preservation for years to come. 

Independently owned and operated since 2006, the Freo Doctor has an unrivalled selection of local and international wine, beer, cider and spirits. Two of Oceania's original concrete wine vats and several barrels still reside in our cellar - feel free to take a look downstairs next time you are in the shop.
